Before becoming an actress, Sondra Kerr Blake was a dancer/choreographer, having choreographed, written the music to and performed her first solo work at age four. Proclaimed a child prodigy, she was placed on the concert stage to perform that solo work by movie/stage choreographer/impresario Lester Horton.
Age eleven, birth certificate altered to read, eighteen, Sondra joined the Horton adult Dance Theater Company, performing as soloist. Shortly after, she was hired as the star dancer/choreographer on The Jerry Fielding Musical TV Variety show and by fifteen years of age Sondra toured as lead dancer with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera.
Soon after, studying acting with famed acting coaches, Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, and Martin Landau, Sondra became a member of The Actors Studio. Spotted by a Hollywood casting agent while touring as Cherie in the play“Bus Stop” Sondra was cast in a lead guest role for one of the last episodes of “Gunsmoke”. The episode is one of ten chosen for the TV Classic Westerns Book and Video Collection.
Sondra has starred in numerous Movie and TV series roles, including a one year stint recurring role on “Days Of Our Lives”, a recurring role on TV series “Joe Dancer”, received acclaim for her starring role as Ronnie Howard in the TV movie “Helter Skelter”, garnered a best supporting role Academy Award nominating committee recommendation for her role in the film “The Interns”, and including a guest lead role for ack Black produced, Jeremy Konner “Drunk History” writer/director/producer’, comedy series “Ghost Ghirls”.
Sondra’s extensive theater credits include critical acclaim for her lead roles in the premiere of Eve Ensler’s “Ladies” at the Geffen, “Point Of No Return” for Equity Library Theater”, “Lenny & Honey”, written and acted by Sondra, produced and performed in NYC at The Bitter End, The Ballroom and The Actors Studio, “Ladies Room” directed by Shelly Winters for The Actors Studio NYC, and “The House Of Blue Leaves” directed by Noah Blake at the Mark Taper Forum Annex.
As screenwriter/producer Ms. Kerr Blake has had original projects in development at HBO in partnership with the late Academy Award screenwriter/producer/director Frank Pierson, at Disney with (“Honey I Shrunk The Kids”)Stuart Gordon, a TV series with Cheech Marin at Alan Landsberg Productions, and worked as film projects development associate for Gary Hoffman at Warner Bros.
Sondra lives in Los Angeles.
